Please state your name for the record.
Emmanuel Filteau.
Where do you call home?
I live in a small suburb of Montréal called Boucherville.
So, what exactly do you do in the crazy world of comics?
I’ve been drawing my own stories since a very early age. I’ve tried a lot of stuff over the years. Strips, journals, fanzines, webcomics… Currently I’m trying to put into image a story I’ve been working on for about 15 years.
What do you enjoy most about comics?
The freedom. You are in control of the result. It’s just a matter of time spent on it. It’s extremely flexible, the range of styles is breathtaking.
Do anything else to pay the bills?
Like many others smaller authors, yes. It is quite a challenge to be reliant on comics. I spend most of my time doing another very cool job. I’m a UI/UX Designer.
Any other claims to fame?
Not that I’m aware of haha.
What's the number one reason people should check out your work?
I think people can get a lot from my comic, it’s action packed, thoughtful, well researched. It contains a variety of art styles. It’s really hard to find one reason. But perhaps this variety is a reason in itself?
What's is the single greatest accomplishment you have achieved in your life?
Finding a woman who doesn’t think I’m crazy spending all my evenings drawing.
Your favorite toy growing up?
Transformers. I still own hundreds of them.
Tell us a little about your creative process.
I keep a lot of notes for stories and review them from time to time. This is how I avoid being blocked. After the story is chosen, I will often write a script. Then I will do a quick sketch of all the pages. Once I’m satisfied with the flow, I put a new layer on top of the sketch and start fine-tuning.
If we had your family hostage, and you had to give us ONE piece of advice about creating comics that will haunt us forever with enduring value, what would it be?
It's actually not a big secret, but few people will actually do it. Never give up. I’ve seen a lot of very good artist give up. A lot more talented than me. But I endure, probably because I’m hard headed.
Do you have any deep dark skeletons in your closet you want to confess now before achieving astronomical levels of fame here on Tabulit and future scandal?
I enjoy musical comedies. There I said it.
You sure / anything else?
Ok. Bad music and bad films too.
How can your new adoring fans follow you on social media?
The Facebook one is the biggest group (facebook.com/inkorpora.comics), I also post a lot of sketches on Instagram at @ink_orporate. I’m also on twitter, tumblr and google + but they’re not updated as often.
