Often times, there’s a lot of noise on social media. There’s art of all qualities of all types going around everywhere from so many talented artists these days. Then there are the rare moments when someone’s work just cuts through that, and grabs you. That was how I found Joy San, a Toronto based illustrator with a style like no other. We were lucky enough to have her on the book. It’s a true pleasure.
Without further ado, Here’s Joy San!
First of all, cats or dogs? (or both?)
Both!
What’s the inspiration behind your work in Furr 2?
I was inspired by the idea of how despite the busyness and how lonely working from home can be, you will always have a companion – even if they are always clamoring for attention.
Which animal describes you better, a dog or a cat?
Dog…a clumsy one.
If you could either be a cat or a dog for a day, which would you choose, and what would you do?
If I was a dog – play all day and whine for cuddles.
If I was a cat – sleep all day and scream for cuddles.
Which would you vote for president? A dog or a cat? And why?
Dog. They are always looking to please but are incredibly smart and kind! I’d love to have a president where we say “we don’t deserve them”.
Let’s say Furr 3 happens (crossing fingers). Other than dogs and cats, what other kind of stories about animals do you think we should try to include?
Ant farms and other creepy crawlies!
Thanks Joy!
