Do you ever get those moments, when you’re just mindlessly scrolling through Twitter or Instagram, and then suddenly something hits you. An amazing photo or an illustration that makes you stop scrolling. That forces your eyes to admire whatever you’re looking at.
That’s how we stumbled upon Katie’s work. She is a Toronto based artist with a ton of talent up her sleeves, and big love for her cat. So we thought she was perfect for Furr 2. Katie’s going to have a beautiful illustration full of style and pizazz in the book. We are so glad to have her with us on the project.

Cats or dogs?
Cats for sure. I still really like dogs but they are so much work and my cat doesn’t mind when I’m lazy.
What’s the inspiration behind your work in Furr 2?
I wanted to show off how badass and gross my cat is! She’s great but she’s a mess.
What quirks or peculiarities does your pet have that you won’t find in other cats/dogs?
She’s wet all the time? She has long fur that she sucks on, she sticks her chest hair in her water bowl, she sits at the bottom of the tub after someone showers and she will fall in the toilet if you leave the lid up. She also jumped in a full bath the other day so she’s really committed to that soggy lifestyle.
Which animal describes you better, a dog or a cat?
Probably a cat. I don’t know really know why I just feel it in my heart.
If you could either be a cat or a dog for a day, which would you choose, and what would you do?
I’d be a dog, it be great to experience normal things like walking and driving like they’re the best things on earth.
Which would you vote for president? A dog or a cat? And why?
A dog, cats sleep too much and won’t get anything done.
Let’s say Furr 3 happens (crossing fingers). Other than dogs and cats, what other kind of stories about animals do you think we should try to include?
I’ve only ever had cats and dogs but I know people go wild for their birds and lizards. I don’t think I could live that lifestyle but people seem to love it. Or maybe fish for the excitement aspect.
