WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
"Situational gag strip" is the best way we can describe it. Very eclectic in terms of characters. The situation always ends up with a twist that is funny, sad or poignant (we like poignant around these parts).
WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?
Two individuals: Elizabeth Pich and Jonathan Kunz who, according to their website, "bounded by fate and an obsession for carrot cake and alien movies, roam the streets of their notorious hometown Saarbrücken, Germany."
WHAT'S THE LATEST?
All the more reason to get in the gym and do squats.
HOW DOES IT ALL START?
Butt implants. This actually isn't their first work, but it is the first one after they re-branded to the new title of War and Peas.
HOW OFTEN DOES IT GO?
Every Sunday.
WHAT'S GOOD?
We love the fact this is a collaboration between friends. Also the style really fits the gags. For some reason, this makes us think of Mike Mignola if he decided to do gag strips. Yeah we know Hellboy is a far departure from this, but it's something we can't get over. Ok, now that is out of the way, the best part of this work is the writing. Every comic has a twist that makes you laugh or cry a little on the inside. This comic just sits really well in the heart, like it's cozy and gives you a sense of inner peas (see what we did there), you know?
WHAT'S NOT SO GOOD (IN YOUR OPINION ONLY OF COURSE)?
You know, we try and give some constructive criticism on everything we review, but... ummm... yeah we got nothing.
WHAT DON'T WE KNOW WE DON'T KNOW?
There seems to be an obsession with butts. The latest issue was about a butt leading to marriage. Their first episode as War and Peas was about butt implants and twerking. On their Patreon page, we have this:
And here is exhibit B:
Need we say more?
WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK?
Ok, ok, maybe we are the ones with butt obsessions, but that's not the point, these are pretty funny right? They also do some great work about robots. Seriously, check out War and Peas, they have like 5 years worth of content available and you will enjoy every comic.
WHAT SHOULD WE READ ON TABULIT LIKE THIS?
No Middle Ground is also about a cute couple (in the comic) and will warm your heart the same.
