WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Miss Melee is an ongoing superhero webcomic following the exploits and adventures of its titular character, Miss Melee, as she juggles her job, family, and superhero career.
WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?
Rob Johnson writes the comic. Ariel Guadalupe provides the art for Miss Melee.
WHAT'S THE LATEST?
When the wannabe sidekick just won't take no for an answer. Is this how Batman always really felt deep down?
HOW DOES IT ALL START?
Miss Melee is on issue 5. We won't take you back to issue 1. Here is how issue 5 starts and then you can go check out the rest for yourself.
HOW OFTEN DOES IT GO?
Every Saturday. Like we said, Miss Melee is on issue 5 so it's been nice and steady.
WHAT'S GOOD?
We don't normally focus on superheroes here at Tabulit. But after tracking this work on Reddit, it became more endearing as time went on. Miss Melee is a lot of fun. It's bright and action-packed. The action poses and anatomy studies are top notch. This really reminds us of that Jackie Chan Adventures animated series from 2000. This would make a great Saturday morning cartoon for certain. And the overall premise works when it comes to female superheroes.
WHAT'S NOT SO GOOD (IN YOUR OPINION ONLY OF COURSE)?
As stated, superheroes really aren't our thing. And again, Miss Melee is fun. Clean fun. Maybe that's one of our issues. It's a safe comic. The story of a superhero trying to hide her identity while family issues spill over into fighting bad guys, and vice versa, is tried and true. But these days, we love to see a twist of some kind. It's just our opinion, but we would love to see Miss Melee get a touch more edgy, taking a few risks, or just embrace being as campy as it could be while not taking itself so serious,
WHAT DON'T WE KNOW WE DON'T KNOW?
What you see is what you get. Miss Melee has a certain charm to it.
WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK?
If they got the right animation team and created just a short clip, we bet this would make a successful Kickstarter. But the animation would have to be just right. We would love to see that happen.
WHAT SHOULD WE READ ON TABULIT LIKE THIS?
This is what we mean by embracing the campy factor.
